Feeling Professional Today?

Why yes I do ;-)

Instead of continuing to procrastinate by reading “A Game of Thrones” for my other blog, I decided to be productive as I felt incredibly motivated by an email I received this morning.

Earlier this month (or it might have been just at the end of January), I interviewed with a cultural heritage consultancy in Perth, Western Australia. I have had a good vibe from the interview as it sounded as if they were offering me a position straight out, although that position does not exist at the moment. That is to say, they work in projects, so if a position becomes available they need to fill it ASAP - if they have a position once I am done here in Scotland, I would be on top of the list! They even already gave me information regarding the kinds of projects they would want me to get involved in!

Now, I hadn’t been in touch with them since that interview. Recovering from my PhD/submission took a little longer than I thought and I have only recently started to get back into the swing of things. I actually meant to email the consultancy sometime this week or next, so I was happily surprised to see they made contact today. All they said was that they wanted to catch up and see if I was still interested in working with them. Needless to say, it made me feel very wanted and solidified my belief that I will have a job waiting for me after graduation.

So after receiving this motivation boost, I sat down and finally FINALLY finished editing a paper and submitted it for publication with an academic journal (now another waiting game begins!) and now I am just about to start prepping my tutorial for tomorrow (which hopefully shouldn’t take to long as I already taught the same thing last year).
